Tyrian 2000

MS-DOS (PC) · 1999 · by Eclipse Productions / Epic MegaGames

Tyrian 2000 is a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up developed by Eclipse Productions, originally published by Epic MegaGames in 1995 and expanded in 1999 before being re-released as freeware by its creator in 2004. Players guide a lone starfighter through an extensive branching campaign across varied planetary atmospheres and orbital outposts. Defeated enemy squadrons drop financial credits and score bonuses, which you spend between stages in an extensive equipment shop to upgrade shields, generators, rear guns, and frontal blasters. In-game story lore unfolds through recovered data cubes found throughout levels. The complete commercial expansion is entirely free to explore, offering deep ship customization alongside traditional arcade shooting action.
