Alter Ego

Nintendo Entertainment System · 2011 · by Shiru, Kulor & Denis Grachev (RetroSouls)

Alter Ego is a freeware puzzle platformer for the Nintendo Entertainment System, created in 2011 by Shiru, Kulor, and Denis Grachev under the RetroSouls label. The release is a conversion of Grachev's original ZX Spectrum design. Players control a hero accompanied by a phantom twin that mirrors every movement across the screen. To collect all required tokens across 25 distinct stages, the player must navigate obstacles, avoid hostile creatures, and strategically switch positions with the phantom twin using a limited pool of swap icons. Completing each stage requires careful path planning and spatial awareness, as every step affects both characters simultaneously in real time.
